The safety inspection of crane steel wire ropes is a key link to ensure the safety and stability of lifting operations. The following are the standards and key points for safety inspection of crane wire ropes:
I. Inspection Contents
Corrosion condition
Whether there is rust, pitting or 锓 corrosion on the surface of the steel wire rope.
Especially for steel wire ropes used in damp or corrosive environments, special attention should be paid to their corrosion conditions.
Degree of wear
Measure the diameter of the steel wire rope, especially the sections prone to wear, and check if there is any reduction in diameter or local depression deformation.
Steel wire ropes with a diameter change of more than 5% should be scrapped.
Check whether there are any wear phenomena such as wire extrusion, strand extrusion or twisting on the surface of the steel wire rope.
Filament breakage situation:
Use a magnifying glass or a wire rope inspection glass to carefully check the surface and interior of the wire rope for any broken wires.
The criterion for determining broken wires: The wear of the outer steel wire does not exceed 40% of its diameter. The length of cross-twisted steel wire ropes shall not exceed 2 within a 6d range and 4 within a 30d range. The length of the twisted steel wire rope shall not exceed one within 6 days and two within 30 days. Steel wire ropes that exceed these standards should be scrapped.
Deformation condition
Check whether the steel wire rope has any deformation phenomena such as bending, twisting, flattening, waviness or flatness.
Severely deformed steel wire ropes should be scrapped.
Rope end fastening condition
Check the tightness of the steel wire rope to the hook or other connecting components to ensure there is no loosening or slippage.
Check whether the number, spacing and installation position of the rope clamps comply with the provisions of the "Safety Regulations for Lifting Machinery" GB/T8919.
Lubricating grease condition
Check whether the lubricating grease on the surface of the steel wire rope is sufficient and there are no fine particles or other impurities on the grease.
Lubricating grease plays a role in lubrication, anti-corrosion and anti-wear. It should be kept clean and effective.
Ii. Inspection Cycle
Daily inspection: Crane operators should observe any visible part of the steel wire rope as much as possible during each working day to promptly detect any damage or deformation of the steel wire rope.
Regular inspection
For general lifting machinery and steel wire ropes used in hoisting and binding operations, safety inspections should be conducted at least once a month.
Safety inspections of steel wire ropes used in lifting machinery at construction sites should be conducted at least once a week.
For the steel wire ropes used in lifting machinery for hoisting molten or hot metals, acid solutions, explosives, flammable materials and toxic substances, safety inspections should be conducted at least twice a week.
Iii. Inspection Tools and Methods
Inspection tools: wire rope inspection mirror, wire rope tester, magnifying glass, thermometer, etc.
Inspection method
Measure the diameter of the steel wire rope with an oil gauge caliper, record the minimum diameter and compare it with the measured diameter of the new steel wire rope at the factory.
Carefully inspect the surface and interior of the wire rope using a magnifying glass or a wire rope inspection glass.
Use a thermometer to check the temperature of the steel wire rope to ensure it is within the normal range.
Iv. Inspection Reports and Handling
Inspection report: It should include the inspection time, inspectors, inspection tools, inspection results and other contents. If any problems are found, suggestions for handling should be put forward in the report and measures should be taken promptly to deal with them.
Handling measures
For slightly worn or corroded steel wire ropes, treatments such as cleaning, lubrication or adjustment of operating parameters can be carried out.
Steel wire ropes that are severely worn, corroded, have broken wires or are deformed should be scrapped immediately and replaced with new ones.
In conclusion, the safety inspection of crane steel wire ropes should be carried out strictly in accordance with the above standards and key points to ensure the safety and stability of lifting operations.
