Come and take a look! Has your engine been using the right type of engine oil?

Mar 26, 2026

Choosing engine oil is not about blindly chasing high prices. Drivers can refer to the vehicle manual, the engine model, or the driving conditions to select different grades of engine oil that are more suitable for the specific usage scenarios.
Oil is not necessarily more expensive the higher the price.
In the classification of API quality grades, diesel engine oil is generally divided from low to high as CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CF, CF-4, CG-4, CH-4, CI-4, CJ-4, CK-4, etc. Among them, CI-4 can meet the usage requirements of fifth-generation vehicle models, while CK-4 and higher-grade oils are the better choices for sixth-generation trucks.

For gas engines, it is recommended to use the engine oil labeled as "Gas Engine Special", which has been specially formulated to address the high temperatures, high nitrogen oxides, and difficult lubrication characteristics of gas engines, and can better meet the requirements.

Viscosity is selected according to the season and region.
The viscosity grades of engine oil, such as 15W-40, 20W-50, etc., determine its adaptability in different temperatures and regions. When choosing engine oil, pay attention to the two digits at the beginning and the end of the grade: the smaller the digit at the beginning, the better the fluidity at low QQ20260326104945temperatures, making cold start easier; the larger the digit at the end, the more stable the oil film at high temperatures, and the better the heat protection. Truck drivers can remember this saying: "The smaller the digit at the beginning, the better for cold start; the larger the digit at the end, the better for high temperatures."

For daily oil usage, please refer to...
15W-40: Suitable for environments ranging from -20°C to 40°C. It is commonly used in most areas of China and can be transported both north and south without the need to change the oil back and forth.
10W-30: Suitable for northern regions with extremely cold conditions (-25℃ and above);
20W-50: The preferred choice for high-temperature and heavy-load transportation in the south

When changing the engine oil, don't rely solely on the mileage.
The replacement cycle of engine oil
The following three criteria can be referred to for determination:
The mileage of the vehicle
The degree of change in the performance of engine oil
By using the display of professional quality inspection instruments, we can determine whether a replacement is necessary.
In particular, when the engine is operating under frequent "start-stop" conditions, long periods of high-speed operation, heavy loads in mines, or frequent cold starts, the oil change interval should be appropriately shortened.
Changing the engine oil also requires changing the engine filter.
When changing the engine oil, it is essential to replace the oil filter at the same time. This is an unbreakable rule. The oil filter acts as the "filter" for the engine oil. Without replacing the oil filter, the new oil will be immediately contaminated by the dirt in the old filter, which is essentially a waste of the new oil. Before installing the oil filter, you can apply a thin layer of new oil on the sealing ring to prevent oil leakage. Then, just tighten it properly without applying excessive force to damage the sealing ring.

Check the oil level daily
Before each departure, make sure to check the oil level. This can effectively prevent engine failures. After the vehicle has been parked and the engine has been turned off for 5 to 10 minutes, use the oil dipstick to measure the remaining oil quantity. Generally, the optimal oil level is at the midpoint between the upper and lower limit values.
When the oil level drops below the lower limit, replenish immediately to prevent cylinder seizure due to lack of oil; when it exceeds the upper limit, release the excess oil to avoid excessive oil volume causing the oil to "mix" into the combustion chamber. Not only does this result in less and less oil being available over time, but it also accelerates the formation of carbon deposits.

Replace the oil immediately if there is any abnormality.
Regardless of whether it has reached the oil change mileage or not, if you notice any abnormality in the oil, such as it becoming black and thin, emulsified and white, having a fuel smell, or consuming too quickly, as well as increased engine noise and reduced power, it could be due to oil aging. Do not try to ignore it; you must immediately change the oil and inspect the engine.

Do not mix different types of engine oils.
The additives in different brands and models of engine oil are different. Mixing them together may lead to the failure of the oil or the formation of sludge. It is recommended not to mix them randomly. If emergency addition is really necessary, please make sure to replace all the oil in time afterwards to avoid damaging the engine.
Dear car owners, for the sake of the health and performance of your vehicles, when choosing engine oil, please try to select well-known brands. This will make your driving experience more reliable and also be better for your cars.
Oil maintenance is not complicated. As long as you keep replacing it on time and pay attention to details, you can reduce malfunctions, extend the engine's lifespan, and make transportation more stable and worry-free. It is recommended that you save and share this content with your colleagues around you, so that all of you can protect your "money-making tool" well.
