The hydraulic system is the core system of a crane. Any problem with the hydraulic system will directly affect the operational performance of the equipment. Because overheating of hydraulic oil sometimes does not have obvious symptoms, it is often overlooked. Today, let's talk about this issue.
What are the hazards of overheating hydraulic oil?
- The hydraulic system is composed of a series of precise components. When the temperature of the hydraulic oil is too high, the precise components in the hydraulic system will remain at a relatively high temperature for a long time, thus causing a certain degree of deformation. Due to the different materials of various components, their coefficients of thermal expansion and deformation amplitudes are also different. This will cause the fit tolerances between components to exceed the standard range, thereby affecting the accuracy of system transmission and leading to problems such as blocked valve body movement and hydraulic oil leakage.
- When the temperature is too high, the viscosity of the hydraulic oil will decrease, and its lubricating performance will also decline. Abnormal wear of hydraulic components may occur, affecting the service life of the components and aggravating oil leakage.
- Excessively high oil temperatures can also cause cavitation, generating additional noise and vibration, and corroding the surface of metal components. This will also affect the service life of the components and the performance of the hydraulic system.
- Excessively high temperatures will also accelerate the deterioration of hydraulic oil and reduce its service life.
Then how can we prevent the hydraulic oil from overheating?
- Continuous operation should be carried out as much as possible in an environment avoiding high temperatures. High-temperature environments can weaken the heat dissipation effect of the hydraulic system, thereby causing the oil temperature to be too high.
- The oil level height of the hydraulic oil should be frequently checked and replenished in time. If the oil level is too low, the hydraulic oil will not have sufficient circulation or cooling conditions, and its heat dissipation capacity will be greatly reduced.
- Read the manual carefully and replace the hydraulic oil and hydraulic oil filter element regularly as required. After long-term use, the viscosity of hydraulic oil will decrease and the oil will become ineffective. If it is not replaced in time, it will affect the normal operation of the system. In addition, it should be noted that oils of different grades must not be mixed.
- Keep the hydraulic oil clean. If the hydraulic oil is contaminated, the internal parts or seals of the hydraulic components will wear out more quickly, thereby damaging the hydraulic system. In particular, when changing the hydraulic oil, it is important to keep it clean to prevent water and debris from entering the hydraulic system.
